FORMER Gympie league player Carlin Anderson crossed the line for Ipswich during the Intrust Super Cup grand final on Sunday, helping attain the Holy Grail for the side after a 33-year wait.

The Ipswich Jets defeated their grand final rivals in a stunning 32-20 victory over the Townsville Blackhawks at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The budding league player successfully converted the Jets' first try to secure a two-point lead over the Blackhawks at the beginning of the match.

Anderson came through for the side again with only seconds left before half-time, finding his legs to squeeze through a hole at top speed to give the Jets a 16-8 half-time lead.

Anderson was given a second chance to score after securing a kick from teammate Marmin Barba, but was held back when almost certain to score.

The premiership Jets team will now play NSW Cup winners, the Knights, on NRL grand final day for a classic Origin decider.
