An Indonesian experience

STUDENTS and staff of St Catherine's Catholic College have spent the past week in Jakarta finding out how the other half live.

The students from Proserpine travelled to Jakarta in the school holidays to spend time with the students and families of their sister school in Indonesia's capital.

The students, many of whom have a command of the Bahasa Indonesia, spent time with students with a view to sharing "experiences, ideas, and togetherness”.

For the students and staff of St Catherine's the experience of life in south-east Asia's largest city was a real eye-opener and enabled students to gain an insight into another culture and way of life.

Students took part in batik workshops with the pupils of the Azhar Asy Syaraf school and were the guests of honour at a formal presentation on departure.
