Camping shop sells great gear
RECHARGABLE lanterns, compact chairs and kitchen things have been the best sellers as the camping season gets under way.
Mango Camping's Elizabeth Hartshorn said September heralds the start of the busy time of the year, when Warwick families pack their cars or campervans and spend time outdoors.
"The school holidays as well have made things busy, with people getting into camping," she said.
"We've had a lot of people who had plans last year to go camping but were rained out, so are going this September holidays or Christmas holidays."
Popular choices were anything to make cooking outdoors easier, such as raised sinks and tables.
Rechargeable lanterns were also a popular choice, Miss Hartshorn said, with people preparing for the storm season.
"One of the cleverest items we have at the moment would be the 30-second tent," she said.
"It's ideal for people who want to shift camp every night. It can sleep two people up to a small family.
"We also have LED strip lights that can be used along the bow of a camper trailer and are better for the battery because they use less current."
Mango Camping is also discounting its winter gear, with good mark-downs on items such as fleeces and rain jackets.
The store is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-noon.
