All the glamour of the 2015 Oscars red carpet

THE most glamorous awards show of the season has seen Hollywood's biggest names pulling out all the stops on the red carpet.

Jewels, sequins, pearls and elaborate embellishment have been key features during the red carpet arrivals so far.

Red carpet darling and 12 Years A Slave star Lupita Nyong'o wore a gown made out of 6000 pearls, while Rosamund Pike was applauded for wearing her most flattering gown of the awards season.

Aussie Margot Robbie impressed with her simple black dress showing off a vintage necklace she joked was worth more than her life.

Best Actress nominee Marion Cotillard's unusual gown had the fashion critics divided with its geisha-style bussle.

Nicole Kidman's red belt and Lady Gaga's red "dish washing" gloves also caused a stir. Twenty five people reportedly worked on Gaga's custom gown.

Neil Patrick Harris hosts today's 87th annual ceremony, which will see Birdman and Boyhood battle it out for Best Picture, the top gong of the night.
