Airline says 80% of Coast departures are now on time

JETSTAR says its flight delays from the Sunshine Coast Airport last month were affected by poor weather in Melbourne and Sydney, but the airline is working hard to turn around delays experienced by customers.

One in three flights out of the Sunshine Coast Airport were delayed in October, including routes operated by all airlines, according to Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics on-time departure figures for October.

A Jetstar spokeswoman said punctuality "is critically important to our customers and we're working hard behind the scenes to improve our performance, with more than 80% of our flights arriving on time in November," she said.

"Since we launched our new flights between Sunshine Coast and Adelaide more than 90% have arrived on time, greater than the national performance average."

National airline performance data is based on flights arriving or departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.

Only 10% of Sunshine Coast flights have arrived any more than 30 minutes late this year.
