Alyssa Azar to receive keys to the city
TOOWOOMBA'S favourite adventurer is set to receive the keys to the city.
Alyssa Azar captivated the country as she spent years working towards her goal of being the youngest Australian to scale Mount Everest.
It took the 19-year-old years of training and three attempts to make the summit and break the previous record set by Rex Pemberton in 2005 when he was 21.
Toowoomba Regional Council's environment and community committee this morning carried a recommendation to present the alpine adventurer with the keys to the city.
The ceremony is expected to take place during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
