TONY Abbott is dusting off his truck driver's licence for an 875km run down the Pacific Hwy and a test drive of his pledge to fix it up.-->-->-->-->
The Opposition Leader will spend two days driving from Brisbane to Terrigal to "highlight the state of this road and the costs to our economy of neglecting this critical piece of national infrastructure".
The Coalition has pledged that in Government it would spend $5.6 billion completing highway duplication work. It would restore the 80:20 funding partnership with the NSW Government.
It's just one of the major road projects Mr Abbott says a Coalition government would start in its first year. The others are $1.5 billion for Sydney's WestConnex project, $1.5 billion for Melbourne's East-West Link, and $1 billion for the Gateway North upgrade in Brisbane.
