IT WAS a rare pleasure to catch up with our old friend Korinna Leach (from Canada originally but now resident in Mount Nelson) the other day.
We ran her up to the Caltex at Epping Forrest to meet the good people there. Korinna (Pat left, Korinna right) is an accomplished artist, writer, poet and sometimes truck driver. The Caltex changed hands on January 18 and is now owned by Pat and Ann Slalinka and Denise Walker and Michael Geeves who are all experienced in the industry and are rapidly putting their own style on the Epping Roadhouse.
Denise and Michael previously had the United at Perth, and indeed we have enjoyed Pat and Ann's hospitality previously at the very excellent Caltex there. First thing we noticed was a great coffee from the new machine, well done folks! Korinna reminisced about the old days when she drove out of Fitzroy Crossing and was inspired to start writing poetry again. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the new folk at Epping Forrest all the best with their enterprise and are glad to see it is all business as usual at this legendary Tasmanian Truckstop.
