A few stacks does not bother these riders

BMX: More than 170 riders from four years old to seniors competed in the Bring on Spring, Kennard's Hire Open Day BMX carnival at the weekend.

Mackay Pioneer BMX hosted the event and had riders travelling from Rockhampton, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.

"It's a great family fun event for everyone," Mackay Pioneer BMX treasurer Teniko English said.

At the end of the carnival they also held a charity ride with more than 20 riders racing on shredder bikes to raise money for CQ Rescue.

While there were a few stacks Ms English said there's no scaring these riders off.

Kye Sanim came off his bike and ended up on the other side of a berm during his first race. He missed out on the next race but came back to place third.

"It's a really fun and competitive sport," he said.
