A DELIGHTFUL old White truck was parked in downtown Malanda on the scenic Atherton Tablelands and Big Rigs just had to track down the driver to find out its history.
Soon after 56-year-old Mark Richards arrived and was happy to yarn about the White and have his pic snapped near it.
Mark is an owner driver based in Mount Molloy and said he had had the 1973 White named White Lightning for about five years.
"I am the third owner and bought it from a bloke in Brisbane and it has more than a million miles on the clock and gets a lot of work up here in the bush," Mark said.
Mark is part owner of a quarry at Petford and the White carts compost and porphyry rocks around North Queensland.
The White has been to Brisbane and back a few times and also to Coen on the way to Cape York numerous times.
The White has its second ever motor - a 350hp Cummins and had a 15 speed direct gearbox.
It may be a golden oldie but this White sure turns heads.
