A concert of classics for Symphony by the Sea

COOLUM music lovers are in for a treat next month.

On May 13, the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra will once again pay a return visit to perform at the Coolum Civic Centre for the annual Symphony by the Sea concert.

The program of music is set to offer something for everyone, with pieces ranging from Bach in the Baroque era to The Beatles.

One of the highlights of the presentation will be the first movement of the Bach Double Violin Concerto, played by Alex Pattri (leader and concert master of the orchestra) and Helen Brereton.

The classic piece is renowned for its beauty, poise and elegance in construction and Rococo character.

The concert will also include the Academic Festival Overture by Brahms, the March to the Scaffold by Berloiz, the Borodin's Polovtsain Dance number 17, music by Beethoven and a Beatle suite.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 general or $22 concession at the door, or $22 and $20 in advance.

Those wishing to purchase tickets in advance can head to www.developmentwatch.org.au or purchase in person from Sandy Pages, Annie's Book Store, or Peregian Shopping Centre.

The event will be hosted by Development Watch Inc and the Sunshine Coast Environment Council with wine, cheese and afternoon tea provided.
