Gary Cramp

SWIMMING is a recreation that keeps 65-year-old truckie Gary Cramp superbly fit.

Gary has been a truckie for more than 30 years and is employed by Nightingale Freightlines based at Jimboomba, driving a Mack powered by a 600hp Cummins.

"I brought up plate steel from Brisbane to Mackay and do lots of swimming when I get time off as it is great for fitness. I go down at the Gold Coast or Ballina beaches," he said.

His favourite roadhouse is the Caltex at Gympie because it looks after truckies.

Gary said he had a rather unusual experience recently while following a mini bus between Moree and Goondiwindi.

"Several women who looked like backpackers took their tops off and flashed at me through their back window," he said.

Gary is one of the fittest truckies aged more than 60 that this writer has seen, and swimming must be a great recipe.
