TONY Williams

TONY Williams may have the same name as one of the best rugby league players in the NRL, however he is a supporter of the rival code AFL.

Townsville based Charter Refrigerated Transport worker Tony follows the Brisbane Lions in the AFL.

"I barracked for them from the old days when they were the Bad News Bears and also in the good times when they won three premierships in a row," he said.

Footballer Tony Williams is a blockbusting forward for NRL club Manly and was a NSW State of Origin representative.

"I try not to put much emphasis on having the same name, as whilst he is a good player, he is also a NSW cockroach and I am a proud Queenslander," Tony said.

Although coy about his age, Tony said he had been a truckie since he was 17.

"I carry general and fish between Cairns and Brisbane," he said.

Tony drives a 1994 Kenworth and enjoys kayaking and watching V8 racing outside of work.
