Yeppoon Swans smash the Rocky Panthers

AFL: Humid, muddy conditions were hardly a deterrent in the Yeppoon Swans' first game of the season, when they met Rockhampton Panthers, who travelled to face a fit and ready home team.

Good crowds enjoyed a full day of action, with all the junior teams getting the day off to a great start, coming away with strong wins in the morning.

But the afternoon saw mixed results in what was still all-round entertaining footy.

The young A grade squad led by new skipper Matt Wallin showed their true colours and smashed the opposition out of the game, with a convincing 53 point win.

Players' player Luca was everywhere and used his pace well and Maxy, who booted six, and Alby dominated the half forward.

Unfortunately, the ressies didn't clinch a win today, and although outplayed by a strong opposition, there was much to gain from the hit out.

With a fresh look team under the new captaincy of Clint Miles and new coach Hilly, the ressies are sure to gain momentum in the next few weeks.

The day concluded with the Swanettes, who showed some great skills under tough conditions but lost in a close margin.

Better luck next time, girls.

The Yeppoon Swans host a home again next week, so if you are after an entertaining Saturday, head on down to Swan Park, as we face Gladstone Mudcrabs.

Go Swannies!
