Prison riot in Indonesia leaves 5 dead and 131 escaped

POLICE in Indonesia have bolstered their search for 131 prisoners who escaped from overcrowded cells during a riot that left five dead.

Al-Jazeera reports that police across Indonesia's Sumatra island will carry out "a massive hunt operation".

Inmates convicted of terror offences were among those still at large.

More than 200 prisoners managed to escape in the chaos caused by the riots.
