Frank James

MULTI-skilled North Queensland truck driver Frank James is also a talented entertainer.

The 50-year-old Frank has driven various trucks on the North Queensland community of Palm Island for 10 years.

"For the past four years I have driven a Western Star tipper and I love it here. The bitumen road network is only 10km long and the sea views are wonderful," Frank said on June 4.

The Western Star gets plenty of work with a road which was damaged by Cyclone Yasi being repaired.

It carries lots of road construction material and is a common sight on Palm Island which is 48 nautical miles across the briny from Townsville.

Frank previously used to drive a Nissan CW250 Intercooler, and a Hino which had been the rubbish truck.

Frank is the best known truck driver on Palm and reckons he'll never leave.
