Australian man killed in bolivian bus crash identified

THE Australian man killed in a tourist bus crash in Bolivia at the weekend has been identified.

Canberra man Kurt Steel, who was a media advisor to ACT Treasurer Andrew Barr, was among nine people who were killed and 24 injured when the bus overturned coming back from a visit to Bolivia's famed Salar de Uyuni salt flats.

The bus, which had set out from Uyuni, stopped in Potosi en route to La Paz, was carrying 35 people.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade released a statement confirming consular officials were providing assistance to an Australian injured in a bus crash in Bolivia and to the family of an Australian who was killed in the same incident - APN Newsdesk.
