200 truckies drive for a cure

A RECORD 200 trucks were part of the Townsville Convoy for a Cure on May 26.

Thousands of spectators watched from beside roads as the convoy travelled about 26km in just over 40 minutes.

In return the drivers honked their horns and these could be heard in suburbs far away from the route.

The trucks marshalled at Webb Drive at the Bohle suburb from 7.45am and the convoy commenced at 9am led by the police escorts followed by motorbikes.

The trucks followed and drove along Ingham Road, into Duckworth Street, Woolcock Street, Charters Towers Road, Ross River Road and Riverway Drive where there was a family day.

Some of the trucks had sick kids as passengers.
