GOING GREEN: Mitsubishi Fuso introduces four new vehicles at the Tokyo Motor Show under the theme Power to the Future.
AT LAST week's 42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011 Mitsubishi Fuso built on the theme of building buses and trucks with leading fuel efficiency and advanced environmental technology with a smorgasbord of environmentally friendly vehicles.
Under the theme Power to the Future, Fuso presented four vehicles including the world premiere preview of the new Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck, the Japan premiere of the Canter E-CELL electric truck, the first public exhibition of the Super Great Eco Hybrid heavy duty truck, and a display of the popular Aero Queen bus with advanced diesel technology.
"Fuso is committed to Leadership in Green Innovation," said Dr. Albert Kirchmann, MFTBC President and CEO.
"The vehicles and technologies on display at Tokyo Motor Show represent our 'power' to deliver trucks and buses that are fuel efficient, low emissions, with low cost of ownership for customers, and in harmony with society."
According to Dr Kirchmann, the theme, Power to the Future, also means that Fuso develops various drive systems for a greener future. These include advanced diesel power with the BlueTec® emission reduction system, hybrid-electric power, and all-electric power.
"Fuso is already the fuel efficiency leader in the Japanese commercial vehicle industry. We plan to further enhance our leading fuel efficiency position in conventionally powered diesel vehicles, while pushing forward with advanced technologies like hybrid-electric and all electric vehicles.
"We see all of these technologies in the future of clean vehicles. All will give us 'Power to the Future,'" he said.
The technologies on display by Fuso at the Tokyo Motor Show were also in line with "FUSO 2015," the company's five-pillar growth strategy for the future.
One of the five pillars is "Leader in Green Innovation," meaning the company focuses on advances in Green Products, Green Factory and Infrastructure and Green Supply Chain to achieve an aggregate CO2 reduction of 7.5% by 2015.
"We see all of these technologies in the future of clean vehicles. All will give us 'Power to the Future'."
