INDULGENT BLISS: Relax in the unique hydromassage and soak the pain away.
INDULGENT BLISS: Relax in the unique hydromassage and soak the pain away. Contributed

AS I sit in the waiting room, I feel my mind already falling into a state of pure bliss. The music is calming, and the signature lime juice is already clearing my head as I wait patiently to be taken into the heart of the Noosa Springs Spa to experience the new Mother's Day package.

A hefty work-out session the night before has my body aching and twisted, and there is doubt in my mind that just two hours here will give me the relief I crave.

As I am called forward to begin my treatments, I walk past the stunning scenery of native and exotic trees and beautiful fountains that try to trick my mind to believe I am on a tropical island instead of a spa in Noosa.

For the first time, I have been given the reins to choose how to best pamper my body.

Choices, choices.

Should I go into the hydromassage first and let the jets and soothing water knead my body to jelly?

Perhaps I should choose the steam room where seeing a metre in front of you can prove to be difficult before relaxing on the wooden benches and ensuring your mind is focused on only the here and now.

Or should I step into the red sauna and fall into a meditated lull as the heat pulls the toxins from my body, relaxing each muscle?

I opt for the hydromassage first.

The chance to take a dip in the warm water is too alluring.

Time slips away from me.

But I am curious about the rest of the experience so I eventually pull my body back up the stairs.

Entering the red sauna room, the heat at first overwhelms my body: I don't believe I have ever willingly sweated so much in my life.

But the feeling of calm as my muscles begin to relax and inevitably turn to jelly confirms that the decision to step into this room was a good one.

Time has slipped away from me once more and I soon find myself walking - fluffy robe and all - to the relaxation room where I am greeted with champagne and chocolates.

Oh yes, this is definitely what I was waiting for.

Shelley soon enters on silent feet to beckon me to the second half of my experience: the facial.

As a younger woman, the typical facial scheduled for the Mother's Day package would not suit my skin but Shelly - ever the professional - easily mixes up an array of different creams as I begin to be pampered and massaged to a degree I have never before experienced. Her hands should be immortalised in gold.

I am shocked to be told after what feels like minutes that the hour-long facial has drawn to a close.

The mixes with the exotic smells have made my face smooth and fresh with a definite glow. I have never felt so rejuvenated and calm before.

I am not sure if there is a name for the state of bliss you feel after a day of pampering but I like to think of it as a spa hangover. Unlike other hangovers, this is one I would be willing do time and time again.

As I walk back into reality, I smile as I realise the spa has just produced a future regular customer.
