Witnesses sought over truckie shooting

POLICE are seeking witnesses to an incident where a truck driver was struck by a projectile in Sydney's southwest last week.

About 5.10pm Wednesday November 19, a 30-year-old truck driver was sitting in his rig at traffic lights on Heathcote Rd at Wattle Grove when he was struck by a pellet, shot from an air rifle.

The man suffered a minor wound and emergency services were contacted.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove the item from his body.

Police from Liverpool Local Area Command were called to the scene and commenced investigations.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Heathcote Rd, Moorebank, where they seized two air rifles and air gun pellets. The items will undergo forensic examination.

Liverpool detectives are speaking to a number of people, who are assisting with their inquiries.

However, police are seeking any further witnesses to the incident and urge them to come forward and contact them via Crime Stoppers.
