Tommy Buckle

WE were sorry to hear our old mate Tommy Buckle from Colac has been in the wars and is hospitalised at Timboon for the time being.

He tells us he is now radioactive, having had a nuclear substance injected into his spine, with more due in 10 days or so.

It's apparently a new operation that neuro- surgeons do in place of surgery and the success rate is high, so he should be up and about again soon. Rumour has it that some of his mates have clubbed in and, knowing his affection for Volvos, have purchased him a nice, comfortable, faded red 1982 Volvo Estate with yellow seat covers, complete with white bowling hat on the back ledge and room for a Zimmer frame in the boot.

Now that is surely worth coming out of hospital to enjoy.
