INDUSTRY regulation and red tape affect everyone - from truck drivers and owner-operators, right through to the big end of town.

That's why the Australian Trucking Association invites everyone in the trucking industry to help develop the industry's plans at Trucking Australia 2016.

This year's conference will be held at Sea World Resort on the Gold Coast from Thursday, June 23 to Saturday, June 25.

It's all about getting results for the industry, and for your own business and operations.

For example, delegates at Trucking Australia 2015 called for the chain of responsibility laws to be made fairer, and be extended to vehicle maintenance.

Following extensive ATA lobbying, Australia's transport ministers have now done just that.

Your experiences matter.

As the one at the front lines, we need you to tell the ATA what needs to be done to keep improving the trucking industry's safety, viability and professionalism.

On an individual level, you'll get valuable training on business contracts, with the launch of the ATA's best-practice trucking industry contract checklist.

And you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet and reconnect with trucking industry peers at great social events throughout the Trucking Australia program.

Trucking Australia will also celebrate our industry's achievements with the presentation of the National Trucking Industry Awards.

With great cash prizes, travel and industry acknowledgement on the line, this is a great time to come and recognise some of the industry's greats.

Nominations are currently open for these awards, including the 2016 National Driver of the Year Award.

If you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their work, you can nominate them now at www.truckingawards.

Full delegate registration for Trucking Australia 2016 is $495 (inc GST).
