ARMY Private Ryan Dawson reckons the Kenworth T909 he drove from Darwin to Townsville hauling light armoured vehicles is "awesome".
The 23-year-old is based at Amberley Base and is part of the 85 Transport Troop.
Private Dawson was amongst a convoy of trucks relocating the 2nd Cavalry Regiment from Darwin to Townsville under Plan Beersheba.
"I have been in the Defence Force for six years and the Kenworth is awesome and never missed a beat. It is the second trip I have been on from Darwin to Townsville," he said.
The Kenworth is powered by a 550hp Cummins motor with an 18 speed gearbox.
On the trip Private Dawson enjoyed stopping at the Three Ways and Emerald Springs roadhouses, both in the NT.
"The toasted cheese sandwiches at Emerald Springs would take some beating, they were delicious," he said.
One of his hobbies is rugby league football and Private Dawson played for the Gympie Devils in the Sunshine Coast competition last year as a fullback.
