POLICE are asking for information after a bottle was thrown at a truck smashing the windscreen on Sunday afternoon.

Around 4.30pm, a semi trailer was travelling along the Bruce Hwy about 2kms south of Yaamba when a 4WD passed it on the other side of the highway.

As the vehicles passed, a plastic bottle full of liquid was thrown out of the drivers side of the 4WD and smashed the windscreen of the semi trailer.

The bottle struck the driver in the face, and he has lost control of the truck for a short period before bringing it to a stop on the side of the highway.

Luckily the driver only suffered minor cuts to his face due to the shattered glass from the windscreen and did not crash.

Police are appealing to the public to locate an early model white Toyota Landcruiser wagon that had green P plates and was in the area at the time.

Anyone with any information that may be able to assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Investigations are continuing.
