GREAT to catch up with Herbie Simmons, from Launceston, the other day when he dropped into the Epping Forest Caltex Truckstop and Café for a bite to eat and a drink.
Herbie was driving a Kellara 2003 435 Mack Quantum (with a million K's on the clock) and towing a dog trailer loaded with cars on their way from Launceston to Hobart at the time.
He tells us he has spent seven years with Kellara, who he describes as a great outfit, adding that after 51 years on the road, he had sort-of retired on March 28, but does the odd day driving here and there to help out when needed.
It was good to hear that our old mate Wally is still going strong, though based on the big island nowadays and said to be living at the BP at Boundary Road.
