WHATEVER your off-road requirements, IVECO has a vehicle that will meet and exceed your expectations.
With more than a century of experience in the design of vehicles custom-made for the harsh climate and road surface extremes of Australia, the company produces a range of light, medium and heavy duty trucks - and buses - perfectly suited to a range of local off-road operations.
The new range of off-road commercial vehicles from IVECO will be on display at the 2013 Asia Pacific International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX) held at the Sydney Showgrounds from August 20-23.
Complementing the impressive display of off-road trucks at AIMEX, IVECO will also have two purpose built buses on its stand. Comprising a 4x2 and a 4x4, the buses will highlight the versatility of IVECO and reinforce its position as a total transport solution that provides support for the most remote locations and harshest terrains.
IVECO vehicles make light work of the toughest environments: muddy tracks, rough ground and steep slopes present no obstacle for the off-road range of trucks and buses. Offering the best combinations of payload and off-road performance in harsh conditions they are the perfect partner for the mining, oil & gas, construction, long-haul transport and forestry industries.
Durability, safety and comfort
IVECO will be introducing the Astra HD9 8x8 to the Australian market this year. The HD9 is strong and versatile, and combines many years of experience building highly specialised, heavy-duty vehicles with the latest requirements for operator safety and comfort.
The cabin of the HD9 provides excellent visibility, featuring expansive windows and rear-view mirrors. The interior and instrument panel have been ergonomically designed to incorporate a variety of innovations, which, when combined with the renowned durability of the Astra chassis and drivetrain, make the new HD9 the ideal choice for customers who require maximum reliability under the most challenging conditions.
Performance in tough conditions
The Daily 4x4 is a purpose built off-road, light commercial truck based on the IVECO Daily award-winning road vehicle design. It is ideally suited for use as an off-road support, emergency service or recreational vehicle. Built on a solid steel truck chassis, it comes with permanent all wheel drive with three available differential locks (front, rear, and central). The drivetrain features 24 forward and 4 reverse gears. The truck has a GVM of up to 5.2 tonnes, a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes and either a Single or Dual-Cab configuration.
Fitted with parabolic suspension with a live front axle to cushion the shocks of road surfaces, the design of the Daily 4x4 guarantees the performance of a true off-road vehicle with steep departure and approach angles along with a fording depth of nearly one metre.
Manoeuvrability and protection
The Eurocargo 4x4 stands out for its qualities of versatility and durability, as well as its manoeuvrability. Ideally suited for a range of applications, the Eurocargo 4x4 is available in either a single or dual cab and can be used for off-road maintenance or support vehicles, crane trucks, emergency services or elevated work platforms.
Designed for rugged off-road applications, the Eurocargo 4x4 incorporates special structural protection systems, including a higher chassis, steel bumper, retractable access steps, special radiator guard, retractable rear under-run protection bar and headlight protection grilles.
Most rugged contender
The Trakker 6x6 is a specialised truck with a GVM of 33 tonnes, purpose built for the toughest off-road jobs. With differential locks and hub reduction on all axles, the Trakker can be equipped for off-road tipper work or as the base for an elevated work platform.
Featuring all wheel drive in a 6x6 configuration, the Trakker is combined with IVECO cantilever suspension to even out the bumps for an incredibly smooth ride. The drivetrain utilises an IVECO Cursor 13 450 hp engine and a ZF EuroTronic II 16 speed automated transmission which gives the operator freedom to concentrate on the road ahead.
Heavy duty hauler
The Powerstar 7800 Roadtrain blends power, comfort and unparalleled heavy haulage capabilities. The design of the 7800 combines an American drivetrain and European comfort into an Australian-made truck. It is a heavy duty workhorse which can haul the biggest loads, with a 140 tonne Gross Combination Mass (GCM).
Powered by the 15-litre, 600 hp, Cummins Signature engine, the Powerstar 7800 delivers 2,050 lb/ft of torque to the ground through its Eaton 18-speed Roadranger transmission. The engine and drivetrain are mounted on a steel chassis designed and built in the IVECO manufacturing facility in Dandenong, Victoria. The Powerstar 7800 cab gives increased visibility along with high levels of comfort and superior ergonomics, lessening the impact on the driver's body.
Moving personnel in comfort and safety
IVECO not only supply and manufacture trucks for the Australian market, but also custom built buses-in both on-road and off-road versions. Ideal for use in mining operation transport, IVECO off-road buses are available in either a 4x2 or 4x4 configuration and are purpose built to customer requirements.
Committed to the Australian market
The IVECO off-road range has a model to meet every Australian off-road challenge and the company has a long and successful history in designing trucks and buses for local conditions. The off-road range of trucks are manufactured in Europe and supplied to the Australian market by IVECO Trucks Australia. The Powerstar 7800 and bus chassis are manufactured at the IVECO manufacturing plant in Dandenong, Victoria.
The company's Australian facility produces more than 600 trucks and buses each year, making IVECO a major player in the local truck and bus industry and one of only three remaining truck manufacturers in the country. The facility has been operating for more than 60 years, and has been owned by IVECO for 20 years, directly employing 150 people and creating employment across Australia for thousands of people in related industries, from retailing operations to component suppliers.
