William Delaney
HAVING a quick break was William Delaney.
This well-seasoned truckie has been driving for 44 years. Back in the early days William drove a COE (Cab Over Engine) 1418 Mercedes Benz for John Kennally, doing runs to North Queensland pulling a single flat-top bogie trailer.
He was carting electrical transformers as well as general freight for the mines.
William now drives for CRT Group, which has a depot in Adelaide and is based in Melbourne. CRT stands for Colin Reece Transport but it is now owned by QRN, a government-owned company.
William drives a Volvo FM. The unit has 400 horsepower and with the 12-speed auto shift it's the idea truck for local driving.
The unit rides on air bag suspension pulling a 45-foot Baker skel trailer carting shipping containers, all over Adelaide and the odd trip to Melbourne.
