Driver profile: Allen Chapman
WHEN Big Rigs saw owner/driver Allen Chapman at the parking area near the BP Cluden Roadhouse on May 29 he was checking out under the bonnet of one of the cars he was transporting.
The 32-year-old Allen subbies for Brisbane-based Melcrest Auto Express and drives a 1998 Western Star 4900 which he said is a great truck.
"I carry cars from Brisbane all around Australia and am off to Kingaroy and then have to take some from southern Queensland to Darwin," he said.
His hobby outside work is restoring cars and his favourite roadhouse is at Daly Waters in the NT.
Allen is a genuine good Samaritan who will always stop and help fellow truckers and others if they are broken down beside the highway.
"I did that the other day in the NT when somebody needed assistance," he said
