MASTERCHEF'S Italian whirlwind was all a bit too much for Deb Sederlan.
The former account manager was the first amateur cook eliminated from the reality show's elite Top 10 tonight.
After coming last in a pici pasta making mini-challenge, she was tasked with cooking spit-roasted pig for the villagers of Monticchiello in picturesque Tuscany.
Always able to find the silver lining, Sederlan could not have been in more beautiful surrounds for her final day on the show.
"It was the best elimination of the whole show," she said.
"I didn't have to walk out the (MasterChef kitchen) doors and not see everybody again."
Sederlan, a former vegetarian, found the process of spit-roasting two suckling pigs very confronting.
"It was so far from just a piece of meat for me," she said.
"It felt more like a karmic experience than a cooking experience. I wanted to make sure I respected the animal."
It was the 50-year-old's mental state, rather than her cooking, which let her down in the challenge.
"I just didn't hold it together properly," she said.
"The whole day wore me out… I couldn't do it on my own in the end.
"I got to the emotional point where I didn't know if I was going to be able to keep going."
Back home in Victoria, Sederlan is weighing up her career options and has just launched a dessert-themed blog.
"My dream's a bit tricky. It's not as simple as I want to be a chef in a commercial kitchen," she said.
"I'm look at how using the internet can be bit of a springboard for staying connected with people who supported me throughout the show. For me it's really important to say thank you to those people."
Tomorrow night, superstar chef Neil Perry joins Gary Calombaris and George Mehigan for an Italian-inspired MasterClass.
MasterChef airs Sundays at 7.30pm and week days at 7pm on Ten.
