MATTHEW Abood missed out on representing Australia at the London Olympics but another Tweed born swimmer grabbed a place in the Olympic team in the same race.

The Pottsville swimmer, Abood, finished seventh in the 100m freestyle final at the Australian Championships Monday night in Adelaide.

He qualified eighth for the final and managed one better in the final with a time of 49.31sec.

He finished behind James Roberts who was also born in the Tweed who finished second in the same race with a time of 48.60sec.

The winner of the trophy event was James Magnussen in 47.10sec.
